FFXI News: 100k FFXI Accounts Being Over Billed

– July 27, 2009Posted in: Final Fantasy XI

Final Fantasy is being sued over hidden ffxi fees.

Final fantasy is being taken to court for false advertising, unfair practices and fraudulent concealment in regards mainly to hidden fees revolving around ffxi.

What we know so far is that ffxi apparently ripped off over 100,000 players from its popular online game final fantasy 11 by being not upfront about it monthly fees, penalties, late payments, interest charges, and termination of ffxi accounts for late payments. The lawsuit information was provided by Courthouse news in which a California law firm is representing this case in the Central District of California.

Tough news for final fantasy as they have a long case ahead of them protecting themselves against damages up to $5 million.

What we can tell you about this is that from. We have had similar problems in regards to this lawsuit. Our company has purchased over 2000 final fantasy xi accounts over the past 18 months which some of them have experienced similar problems related to this lawsuit. Breaking them down

The monthly fee penalties we never experienced any problems with along with interest charges. What we did experience problems with were termination payments which we would pay upwards to around $30 per account that had late payments were termination issues. Additional charges from what we see were usually random based on the time account funds or two to final fantasy, and we were never meant and were told anything about any of these charges when first accessing accounts. Overall I am not shocked that this is finally being brought out in District Court and I am happy that hopefully we will never experienced these problems again in the near future.

What is most interesting about this case is that nothing is being brought out about the 90 day policy final fantasy has in which if you do not activate your content IDs which are used to access final fantasy then your account will be permanently deleted. The problem with this is that how is that fair for people overseas, people that have jobs, people that are busy, and so on final fantasy is forcing people to activate and pay subscription fees at least once every 90 days or else your time and energy spent into your ffxi character for your ffxi account will be deleted permanently. We feel that playing a game like this you should not be forced to pay a subscription if you do not want to play the character and for those people that may not have the money to pay for such urgency this is an outrageous station in final fantasy requires customers to do in order to play their game.

What is most outrageous is the fact that this was never brought up in this lawsuit and that we along with thousands of other people are victims of final fantasy’s rash decision to delete content IDs for your ffxi accounts after spending how much money to play their game on past subscription fees. Hopefully in the near future this will be brought out a lawsuit or added to this current lawsuit because though it is a virtual world and it is their game things need to change in order for customers to continue playing their game. If anything this is what the lawsuit should have been about.
